About Us
How Kitchen Capers was formed
The Kitchen Capers website was created and dedicated to Boon,
a young gentleman I never knew or loved. He was Kim San and Seok
Buay's only child. He passed away suddenly 3 years ago. Kim San
and Seok Buay are friends I knew from the church I was attending
here in Singapore . Kim San stood by me, prayed with me and for
me when I was experiencing a very difficult pregnancy with my
youngest daughter, Melody. During a routine ultrasound scan,
the doctor found that Melody was abnormal.
I spent 4 months crying and had many sleepless nights pondering
over this issue. For 4 months after knowing about my unborn child's
disability, Kim San gathered a group of church friends and prayed
for us every day. He prayed for the baby, and for me to have
faith in God. My daughter, Melody was born perfect. Kim San prayed
for a miracle. And God answered his prayers.
As it is with all good friends we should help each other when
we can. This is my way of helping Kim San and Seok Buay.
The dream of writing and publishing a cookbook was Boon's idea
which he shared with his mom. After his death, Seok Buay could
never find the strength nor the courage to carry out his dream.
Thus, this website was created. And Buay's vision for the future
was to teach cooking and Basic English to poor women around the
world. So that they do not have to live a life of poverty and
living out their days begging in the streets.
Buay was trained to be an English teacher and she is also a
gourmet cook. She taught me many secrets in cooking and baking.
Things I would have never known even if I had read a lot of cookbooks.
With that in mind, I started the website and a forum message
board to share recipes on cooking and baking. Buay taught me
the spirit of giving, of charity. She never holds back anything
she knew about cooking or baking. I am deeply encouraged and
inspired by her. And I hope my message board carries the same
faith too.
And I hope that you share this vision with us too.
Enjoy your time here with us at Kitchen Capers.

About Gina Choong
I'm married to a loving and devoted chinese man, Benny Lim.
We had 2 daughters, a teenager, Natasha and a younger daughter,
Melody.
I used to work with as a MIS Manager with a MNC here in Singapore
until I quit last June 2003. I have not been working full time
but run my own little business which deals in Data Recovery of
failed computer hard disks and digital camera's memory cards.
I was trained to be an IT expert. And have been in this line
for the last 20 odd years. And getting really tired of it.
Cooking become a passion shortly after my marriage. Before that,
I used to hate to go into the kitchen except to get a drink.
In the early years as a wife and a mother, I wanted to prepare
meals in a quick and easy way, no fuss and fumble over which
ingredient is more or less, or the fire is too hot or just right.
I started reading up alot and asking many relatives and friends
for help. And it doesn't help that my hubby, Benny grew up on
home cooked meals all the time. He hates eating out unless I'm
sick in bed or going to the hospital to deliver our baby!
Over the years, I improvised many recipes I got from friends,
relatives and also from cookbooks to suit my quick and easy way
of cooking. In the process, I found these recipes useful too
for other women who are just like me when I first started out.
Thus, with that in mind, Kitchen Capers lives for this sake.
To share and to learn together.
About Prashant Patel
I came to know Prashant through a data recovery job I did for
him. Understanding that his work and background exists around
web development, I asked Prashant for his help and guidance in
creating this website.
Prashant is a godsend, I must say. I am happy that our paths
crossed. And Prashant proved invaluable to us here at Kitchen
Capers as he provides us with all the basic know-how on web development
and design.
Prashant helped us to get the ball rolling and spend considerable
time working and fixing the website and the forum board to my
satisfaction. All these time, this humble gentleman expects no
monies or rewards or favours.
Buay and I felt indebted to him for his kindness and his expertise
and help.
